Dr. Al Primavera chose the field of dentistry for one reason and one reason alone, to be able provide the highest quality of patient centric care. He strives to make every patient who walks through the door to feel as if they are an extended part of his family, and that’s just how he sees them. He understands that the dentist is not on everyone’s top 5 list of places to visit; but his kind, caring, and thorough bedside manner will soothe the nerves of even the most anxious patients!
Dr. Primavera was born in New York to two amazing parents, and at the age of 8 years old his family relocated to sunny Naples, Florida. He spent most of his childhood and early adulthood growing up in the sunshine state, spending his free time fishing, golfing, and traveling. It is also where he completed his undergraduate studies, at Florida Gulf Coast University, receiving a B.A. in Biology and finishing at the top 2% of his graduating class.
After years of preparation, hard work, and determination Dr. Primavera was accepted to the University of Kentucky college of dentistry. The University of Kentucky is repeatedly ranked one of the top dental schools in the nation, due to their implementation of ever changing technology and strong research programs.
The University of Kentucky also provided a path for Dr. Primavera to not only receive a full rounded and holistic education in the field of dental medicine, but also provided him the type of educational experience that can not be found at many other dental schools.
Dr. Primavera was able to complete many of his dental school requirements by year 3 and spent his final year focusing on more advanced dental procedures such as oral surgery and dental implants.
He was given the opportunity to work side by side on complex cases with teams of oral surgeons and periodontists. A few patient cases Dr. Primavera worked on with the speciality teams were some of the first to be completed by a dental student in the history of the university. He was able to to expand his knowledge base and interest in these specialty fields due to the opportunity that was awarded to him.
He was also awarded the prestigious implant award upon graduation by the academy of osseointegration.
Upon graduation, Dr. Primavera and his soon to be expecting wife Katie decided they both wanted a change in location. After much research they decided on the Charlotte metro area due to its central location, great quality of life, and for all of its local offerings. He became a true “half-back”.
Dr. Primavera and his wife fell in love with the Charlotte/Indian Land area after multiple visits and decided to make it their new home. They decided after much thought they wanted to bring a modern, locally owned, high tech, and inviting dental office to the area. So with lots of planning, blood, sweat, and tears they opened Palmetto Advanced Dentistry.
Dr. Primavera is here to provide you with all the solutions to your dental needs in a calm and comforting environment.
He is also an active member of the ADA, SC and NC dental association, Lancaster Chamber of Commerce, and is active in many nationwide dental organizations.
He believes continuing education is the key to success and only way to provide the highest quality of care for his patients. Dr. P goes above and beyond each year to continue learning, advancing, and providing the best tech, materials, and procedures.

In his free time you can find Dr. Primavera spending time with his wife Katie, daughter Kailey, and two dogs ( Luna the husky and Milo the Yorkie). He also enjoys to fish, golf, travel to the mountains/beach, cook, and read.
